    New directors for HPSC TerrSys and Geoverbund ABC/J

    Since October 1, Prof. Harrie-Jan Hendricks-Franssen has been the new Director of the Competence Center High-Performance Scientific Computing in Terrestrial Systems (HPSC TerrSys). He takes over the task from Prof. Stefan Kollet, who has held the position since the foundation of the HPSC TerrSys in 2012. The Scientific Director is elected regularly for a period of three years.     Save the Date - "Copernicus meets Galileo"

    ZENIT GmbH with its ZIM cooperation network "CopServ international" will hold an international conference on Earth observation for the second time in May 2019. The two-day event will also focus on navigation. The conference is co-organized with MatchMaking Event by the Enterprise Europe Network and the Technische Hochschule Georg Agricola University in Bochum.     Two weeks till Accra - We are preparing for Africa

    In two weeks young scientists from Ghana and other African regions will meet geoscientists from Geoverbund ABC/J in Accra, to get in contact with the latest methods of modern geoscientific research – modeling and simulation with supercomputers. The vision: Soil Research can support a secure and sustainable food production for Africa – and a week together could be the first step for future cooperation of geoscientists from both sides of the bridge.     Call: International Climate Protection Fellowship

    The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation grants up to 20 fellowships to prospective leaders from non-European transition or developing countries, who are active in any of the following areas: scientific, engineering-based, legal, economic, health-related or social aspects of climate change. The young climate experts will come to Germany for a year to work alongside a host of their own choosing on a research-related project. Application deadline is 1 March 2019.
