MSc/PhD Student Assistantship: Characterizing biogeochemical processes of GHG emission from agricultural soils

05.07.2017 - University of Guelph (Canada)

An assistantship (2/3 years) is available for a MSc/PhD program at the University of Guelph. The assistantship is available right way with actual degree starting from September 2017 or later.

The student will measure and quantify greenhouse gas (GHG) emission from agricultural soils and characterize underlying biogeochemical processes of gas emission as part of a larger AAFC funded project. The student will measure GHG emissions from agricultural soils and quantify other soil properties to characterize underlying biogeochemical processes.

A knowledge on soil physio-chemical and biological properties measurement along with field measurement of gas emission will be an asset. Background knowledge in statistical analysis will be good. The project will involve field works (a driving license is required) in southern Ontario area.

The student will be based at the School of Environmental Sciences ( at the Ontario Agriculture College ( at University of Guelph (, the center of East Canadian Agricultural research.
