Senior Scientist: Modelling bioeconomic production systems

For the department Technology Assessment and Substance Cycles, ATB, seeks a fulltime Senior Scientist in the field of Modelling bioeconomic production systems, starting on 1 January 2018.

Your responsibilities

  • development of the overall architecture for a modular model of bioeconomic production
  • co-ordination and coupling of sub-system models in crop production, livestock farming, foods, material and energetic use of biomass
  • participation in the development of individual moduls
  • integration of internal and external expertise
  • intensive scientific co-operation inside and outside ATB

Our expectations

  • thematically relevant and very good doctorate in the field of agricultural, environmental or natural sciences, engineering or economics
  • profound knowledge of bioeconomic production systems and comprehensive expertise on their modelling
  • several years of professional experience and successful scientific work in the field of modelling bioeconomic production systems, evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed journals, aquisition of third-party funding and project leadershi
  • strong international and national networking
  • excellent english skills, both written and spoken, for non-German speakers: willingness to aquire German language skills immediately
  • independent work, personal commitment, teamwork skills, willingness to co-operate, excellent communication skills and solution-oriented acting

The salary (100%, 40 hours per week) will depend on qualification and experience and can reach up to E14 TV-L (German public service scheme). The position is limited to three years. Provided a positive evaluation it can be extended for another three years with the prospect of becoming a permanent position afterwards. The place of work is Potsdam.
